Medical school marketing · United States
Medical school digital marketing services for US student recruitment. For Caribbean and international MD programs competing on trust, not volume.
US applicants to international MD programs ask hard questions about accreditation, federal loans, licensing exams and residency outcomes. We build digital marketing and admissions funnels that answer those questions accurately and turn qualified inquiries into enrolled students.
What is different in the US. And what it means for pipeline.
Market snapshot
Dominant industries
Business districts
US students considering an international MD program are evaluating risk. Many arrive after an AMCAS cycle that did not end in a US acceptance, and they and their families want to know whether graduates reach US residency: whether the school meets ECFMG requirements, how students perform on USMLE Step 1, reported pass or fail since January 2022, and on Step 2 CK, and what clinical training looks like. Since late 2024, ECFMG status reports show whether a graduate's school meets its accreditation policy through WFME or NCFMEA recognition. Clear, verifiable answers earn applications.
Federal aid and marketing rules raise the bar further. To take part in US federal student aid, a foreign graduate medical school must meet Department of Education rules, including accreditation standards judged comparable to US standards by the NCFMEA and requirements on first-attempt USMLE pass rates. In October 2021 the FTC put 70 for-profit higher education institutions on notice over false claims about graduates' job and earnings prospects. Marketing must be accurate about outcomes, aid eligibility and pathways, and every email must meet CAN-SPAM.

Local plays
How we run medical school marketing in the US.
Pathway proof content
A content hub that explains the route from enrollment to US residency with verifiable facts: ECFMG requirements, the school's accreditation and recognition status, USMLE preparation, clinical training structure and the residency outcomes the school can document. It answers the questions students and parents ask search engines and AI assistants before requesting information.
State-by-state roadshows
Instead of isolated single-city events, a roadshow model that visits several US states in sequence, supported by local search and social campaigns, webinars and faculty or student sessions. St. Martinus University's 2026 plan moved from single-city US events to this state roadshow approach after reviewing its 2025 results.
Source-to-enrollment tracking
CRM and campaign tracking that follows each applicant from first click through information session, application, interview, offer and enrollment. Admissions and marketing review the same data weekly, which exposes channels that produce inquiries without enrollments and moves budget toward sources that yield committed students.

Rules of the road. Outreach that stays compliant.
Privacy and outreach
California is the only state whose comprehensive privacy law reaches B2B contact data: the CCPA's B2B and employee exemptions expired on January 1, 2023, so covered businesses owe California residents' work emails, direct dials and job titles the same notice, opt-out and deletion rights as consumer data. Registered data brokers must also process deletion requests from the state's DROP platform at least every 45 days from August 1, 2026, so purchased California contact lists need regular suppression on top of federal CAN-SPAM (which has no B2B exemption) and TCPA rules.
Buyer notes
Treat California as several markets: Bay Area software and AI buyers expect technical depth and product-led proof, Los Angeles buyers are split across media, aerospace and consumer tech in separate cities, and San Diego skews to regulated defence and life-sciences accounts. Because the CCPA covers B2B contact data, build California lists with documented sourcing, privacy notices and suppression workflows.

More in the US
Medical school marketing in the US. Common questions.
Still unsure? Ask us directly.
What do US students need to know about ECFMG certification?
International medical graduates need ECFMG certification to enter US residency programs, which includes passing USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 Clinical Knowledge and meeting communication requirements. ECFMG status reports also indicate whether a graduate's school meets its Recognized Accreditation Policy through WFME or NCFMEA recognition. Schools should publish their status clearly and keep it current.
Can international medical schools offer US federal student loans?
Some can. A foreign graduate medical school must meet Department of Education eligibility rules, including accreditation standards judged comparable to US standards by the NCFMEA and requirements on first-attempt USMLE pass rates. Marketing should state aid eligibility precisely, because students make financing decisions based on it and misstatements create serious legal risk.
What marketing rules apply when recruiting US students?
Claims about outcomes must be truthful and substantiated: in October 2021 the FTC put 70 for-profit higher education institutions on notice over false promises about graduate earnings and job prospects. Email must meet CAN-SPAM, including a valid postal address and opt-outs honored within 10 business days. We build compliance review into every campaign.
Is USMLE Step 1 still scored numerically?
No. USMLE Step 1 moved to pass or fail score reporting in January 2022, with the first pass or fail results reported in February 2022. That shifted attention toward Step 2 CK, clinical performance and other application factors, so program marketing should explain how students are prepared for those as well.
How do US students evaluate a Caribbean or international medical school?
US students and their families evaluate a Caribbean or international medical school mainly on the risk to their path back to US practice. They check whether the school meets ECFMG's accreditation policy through WFME or NCFMEA recognition, how students perform on USMLE Step 2 CK now that Step 1 is pass or fail, what clinical training looks like, and whether federal student aid is available. Student recruitment marketing should answer each point with verifiable facts.
When do US students start looking at international medical schools?
Many US applicants begin researching international MD programs after an AMCAS cycle ends without a US MD or DO acceptance, so student recruitment marketing should have pathway content, information sessions and follow-up ready when those outcomes arrive. Career changers and post-baccalaureate students move on their own timelines. Schools can then reach families in several states in sequence, the roadshow model St. Martinus University adopted for 2026 after reviewing its 2025 results.
Who should an international medical school hire to recruit US students?
An international medical school should hire a US student recruitment marketing partner that treats accuracy as the core of the work. Ask how it verifies claims about ECFMG status, USMLE outcomes, residency results and federal aid eligibility before publishing, how it builds CAN-SPAM compliance into email, and how it tracks each applicant from first click to enrollment. Given the FTC's October 2021 notice to 70 for-profit institutions, avoid any partner that promises outcomes.
